The guy raped a woman, well he was found guilty but I hate to say it he should go free if they used evidence they got without a warrant. I bet they really don't want to have to release him but then this sets a terrible precedent. And they could have easily gotten a warrant, google gives it to the govt anyway but let's at least make them put on a show of privacy.

Well that's fucking insane. If you have a reason to look it shouldn't be that hard to get a warrant. That's basically an open dragnet. That's definitely a 4th Amendment violation. It's not like you or I can just look at everyone else's searches. It's not publicly accessible data to the average person.

The process is supposed to be: See something you or I could see -> Determine someone has likely committed a crime -> Get a warrant -> Access things that aren't publicly available.
