Linux from 30 years ago is completely different from 20 years ago, different from 10 years ago, different to now. For general desk top daily use, it has been bad all this time.

Windows from 30 years ago was decent for desktop use, windows from 20 years ago was perfect for desktop use, 10 years ago to now, horrible.

And you all know it. When ubuntu changed their interface you KNEW what was going on. You've admitted it before. Linux for retail use will never work. The average person hasn't got time to sit there and flick their dick around while trying to figure out why they cant get a simple program to work. From a corporate IT perspective its absolute worthless. But then again so is modern day windows. I guess, what Im trying to say is, I miss the phpbb days. Good stuff.
