the wealthy and powerful always got away with crimes but for some reason nobody ever talked about it. now that the elite are brazenly breaking the law on camera the public is finally seeing how the average citizen plays by an entirely different set of rules than the powerful.
I hope this era inserts a permanent distrust of the American goverment into people's minds and hopefully collapses democracy entirely.
Machiavellianism. Be dishonourable, claim honour.
Justice for thee but not for me.
No one was arrested for War Of Terror "mistakes".
No one was arrested for 2008 market theft.
No one was arrested for COVID bullshittery.
No one was arrested for genociding Palestine.
My favorite hypocrisy is measuring the standard of criminal intent against constitutional law and the 8th amendment. The standard of criminal intent is foreseeability plus outcome. If you knew there was a chance your actions could result in an outcome then that's intent even if you can claim the purpose was another.
So this is funny when our jails have violence in them. It's foreseeable that that violence could be a deterrence factor for crime, and the courts want a deterrence factor. But they aren't allowed to use violent acts as a deterrence, but they are allowed to set it up and claim "oh, we just don't know a different way to do it." It literally satisfies the criminal intent definition toward violating the 8th Amendment. But it's not criminal intent because constitutional law isn't criminal law. You are allowed to violate constitutional law much easier and with far more protections against the accused.
It should be the opposite.
