I think China obviously wants to reduce population, and things like this are lies to help deny that.
The elites might want more serfs for supply and demand but it's not like they really care about needing to pay us fiat paper they can easily control with inflation. But if the population gets too large you get revolutions all thru history.

I thought the latest conspiracy theory is that China has way fewer people than they claim.
Hadn't heard that but could be true we get lied to about everything.
But for years China had the one child policy and they did a lot of purges killing people during the cultural revolution.
