Edited April 2025.

Feel free to delete this after uploaded. I tried to compress it last time and it didn't play. This time I compressed it and was only a few dozen mb smaller - so I just used the original. I'll focus more on compression when it's done.

Pretty much finished:

  1. Video edit.
  2. Music edit.
  3. Tweaking of everything so far, except...

Remaining To Do:

  1. Add vocal recordings for the blue and green text. (Submissions welcome.)
  2. Finish the yellow essay.
  3. Promotion.
  4. Update Projex.Wiki pages.

Improvement suggestions welcomed.
The elections are on April 28.
This has to be finished and released ASAP.

Ok. You asked for criticisms.

I guess I don't entirely get the message behind the recorded component of it.

You had said that you originally wanted to have the text read, but instead decided to use text. I think the video is too interesting for people's focus to be on the text. They are going to miss half of it. Reading it might be strange over that video but at least people won't miss chunks of it. There are chunks where the ratio of video interestingness to text interestingness is going to be too damn high and half your text isn't even going to be seen.

I still think it would be fun to do a dramatic version. Have me read it in a serious tone and do cuts of the video slow motion with desaturation and balance clipping. Alternate between two target colors for one color remap per frame. I'd love to get the transcript.

Agreed!

It was certainly lacking in many ways, early in the edit. Early it was NOT "too interesting". If anything there was way too much walking around in the mall. My first "good" cut was a minute longer.

I added text meant to be a voice over to give it important messaging, often related to what was happening in the video - and now since I've added the music we can talk about the 3 themes (below). I got verbose and the text was flashed too quickly I soon discovered. Still I tightened up the edit. I finally finished the edit with added music and that changed the entire dynamic and I was no longer embarrassed. It also seemed apparent I didn't need the distracting voice over. Or maybe much less.

But I still would like the messages to get out. Maybe folks will read them, maybe not - the comedy video is a vehicle or wedge to sneak "fringe" ideas into mainstream sheeple (like the Santa Libertas idea). But I can't overdo it either or it's ruined. I wasn't too worried folks would miss half of it - as if they wanted they could go back and rewatch to read it. Also the subtitles could be shrunk down - but I was making it clear for phones.

I think it's almost safe to say the edit and music are locked off. You could even record and edit a second audio track timed to the video. Unless we come up with other better ideas, finishing it is all about 1) the green and blue voice overs, the off-camera collision SFX near the beginning, and the crotch shot to Tall Bruno (plus "Eee aye oh!" like the Old MacDonald song), and 2) finalizing what will be the yellow text and maybe a voice over.

Feel free to rewrite as you see fit. Try to have some of it relate to the video and now music. Remaining missing messages: 1) elections are a joke, 2) we are the saviours we've been waiting for so get involved locally, 3) it's NOT the end of the world, 4) teaching, helping, etc., 5) people are lost (in the woods) political pendulum, 6) hunger for truth (trying to eat). You may have some other stuff to add. It's all about finding the balance.

I've considered releasing 2 or 3 versions - 1) plain, 2) with yellow text, and 3) with yellow voice over.

Music themes:

  1. "Love Is Blue" with the lyrics "Blue, blue, my heart so blue" if anyone knows them, but absent in this instrumental version. Related to the Canadian Conservative colour, opposite of Liberal Red, as in the title. This musak (and other tracks) with reverb establishes the easy listening mall setting.
  2. "Whatchew want" consumerism and shopping. Spice Girls cover and Beastie Boys. Convenience consumer culture is a plague and shopping seems to be the only thing that all people can identify with - a unification of emptiness.
  3. "End Of The World" - covers of the two different famous songs. Hype always makes political elections out to be critical and fear-worthy.

I still think it would be fun to do a dramatic version. Have me read it in a serious tone and do cuts of the video slow motion with desaturation and balance clipping. Alternate between two target colors for one color remap per frame. I'd love to get the transcript.

I don't understand this. I'm not against it. I haven't done any video stabilizing or colour tweaking at all. No time. I'd be happy to try this all out after we get it done and out. Today is the 22nd and elections are on the 28th.

I'm off to work today. Likely a half-day. I'll be at it later. I can copypasta the After Effects text to Projex then.

Thanks for the feedback and interest!
