I went to look at comments to a rally announcement he posted in a chat on Jul 31 in search of hints about what happened at the rally and where Jason is now.

Guys, it's starting to sound like this isn't just an anti-data centre rally, which I could get behind, but a recruitment rally for unhinged sovereign citizen types.
It feels like it's bait & switch, instead of a genuine protest they want to recruit members for the cult.
So I guess it's possible there was some confrontation in RL as well, or maybe cops checked his booklets he planned to give out and found some "red flag" phrases, as it seems Canadian free speech restrictions are harsher than in US and closer to European ones.

Huh, I should have checked that before posting, I just thought he would comment on speculations in chat first.
I didn't expect that either, it did feel like he was absent. I looked into this this morning in fact, was looking for coverage of the rally to see if something got out of and hand if there were detainments perhaps. There was no news coverage of the event whatsoever. It looks like he's here though.
Also I don't think those le reddit comments hold any significance, this is how people on that abomination of a website always respond and I don't think any of them would've come to the rally.

I haven't used A.I. to prompt/format/whatever any of my text, EVER - until Raymond gave me a link that I improved (added "programmable money" and a few tweaks) for my first generated text - a pamphlet (not shared online, only printed out) that explains the problems with A.I. and data centers. It's still not online, so everything I've ever written that's out there is 100% human.
What's the matter with sovereign humans, hinged or not? "Sovereign citizen" is an oxymoron.
It was NEVER a "protest". It was a rally to raise awareness about the critical issues, legal ramifications, as well as potential solutions - which might include effective ways to protest. Cult is the root of culture.
I don't know if it's worth "softening" my words in an attempt to appeal to those on the fence or not (please discuss), but I suspect those who take our fences will gatekeep regardless.
There was zero IRL confrontation. No drama. Just good times and good folks. Police on bicycles were around (holiday weekend, lots of passerbys, etc.) but they didn't stop.

I had made similar posts promoting the event on Lemmy. I find it interesting the differences between the two. Reddit and Lemmy have very similar psychology in a lot respects. Most areas. But the few differences are interesting.
On Reddit, their users thrive on tearing down anything that's different. Every user wants to be seen as smart (same on all platforms). But the mode changes from site to site. Because reddit's mode is finding a way to be critical of things that are outside the hive they will grasp at any straw to complain. Their hope isn't to tear you down. It's to get noticed in a sea of thousands of users. So they will reach for anything.
Lemmy on the other hand is kind of similar but a little less rabid. You can fly under their radar of criticism, with some cleverness.
The problem with them vs most other sites for promoting anything (having had experience with movie nights), is they don't respond to anything with the next step. They support the positive thing with an updoot. Movie night posts were always very popular there. The post was, not the movie night. On some other sites I would see the exact opposite. 1 upvote, 7 people show up. Vs 40 upvotes and 1000 views. Not a single soul if it's Lemmy.

So while my Lemmy posts were more popular, it didn't really do anything to promote his event. It got some positive exposure to Projex and Submatrix.
Lemmy, while it's a lot easier to drum them up to show positivity toward something, won't click on a link to a movie, much less actually show up to a physical event. But they are trained a lot better to click the upvote button. So if all you want is something to be seen, it works.
If you want to have something seen on Reddit, it needs to be 90% similar to the other 90% of content.
I agree, the Redditers are all liberal, brainwashed to think and post a certain way. They are Pro AI Data Centers and Pro Censorship and Cancelation. Poor Jason, he shook the Bee Hive and the Bees came out and stung him.
