Here's my idea: Shut the borders. Make everyone work. Give everyone a job, whether or not it's useful. If they don't know how to do a job, train them. Institutionalize addicts and get them on a path to working as soon as possible.
The left is opposed to those things. They want illegals and open borders on Welfare and SNAP for $4500 a month, and want them to illegally vote for Democrats. They don't want people to have jobs, just be on Welfare and SNAP.
That's how welfare works. Giving people things. Just because you "give" someone a job title, doesn't mean they will produce. This may affect others who do work and produce something of value.
People need jobs too. Even if you could cut welfare, block the borders, open domestic factories, restore the dollar, etc. the people are never happy with change.
Let's pretend things were perfect in 1960 (no Vietnam, no hippies, wife at home with babies, etc). It took 66 years to decay to this state. It will take at least a generation and a half to even begin to undo the damage. Also for perspective, the West has had a few generations of great comfort not only at the expense of other global regions, the West has actively kept them down - so our idealistic "normal" is far from normal.

They got illegals with CDL licenses from California and Minnesota who ignore road signs and drive the wrong way on the highways.

We know ZZZtheyZZZ could handle the borders better, yet they provoke the world, steal from all, and engineer the collapse.
