You ever watch an American horror movie or TV show where, the person sticks their hand down their kitchen sink drain, and suddenly it makes a weird noise and eats their hand?
I've heard a lot of Europeans don't understand this movie/TV trope, because for some reason, most other countries don't have disposals.
A 'disposal', or, 'garbage disposal' is a small machine beneath our sinks, that can be turned on to grind random food waste from washing dishes, or prepping vegetables.
But they can break and/or clog pretty easily, so sometimes you have to stick your hand down into the sink drain to unclog them, and if you, or someone else, accidentally flips the switch while your hand is still down there, bye-bye hand.
It is every Americans worst fear.
