I'm still thinking about getting polls here. I have the inline strawpoll embed with (! S P {id}), no space, paren, or curlies. But I think I can design something that will give better results. Gayniggers may have never happened. A lot of the code is done. But today is a day for playing around with goofy shit so I'm playing with this test post.
Edit:
This is only me playing around. I'm not sure if I'm doing this or the poll post type. I'm investigating the viability and favorability of either. But this was made with ! POLL , option, option, option (with no space between ! and POLL). It's not networked yet and I need to work on the UI (obviously).
So you're saying users can present pols? Neat!
Yep. Already can. At the moment the best option is to make a poll at strawpoll.com. Then you can inline it here with the SP command I mentioned above.
But strawpoll doesn't support downvotes. The alternative is to add downvotes as separate options. They get ignored because they are at the bottom.
It's just a reality of democracy that it just doesn't function well with many options unless you use at least one of the known mitigation strategies. Downvotes one of them (though there are better ones). Without it all democracy produces is shitposts. That's what Biden, Kamala, and Trump are. Walking talking shitposts. So too was Gayniggers.
Now we had the right crowd to watch that. But we don't want that every time. Especially because I want to use polls to decide things here.
I have the logic code done a while back for the native polls. I'm just figuring at the UI I want and then connecting up the networking. I am open to others making UI suggestions, especially on this one.
Noice!
It seems to me we should start a Matrix User Guide and/or FAQ.
IMO downvoting is almost pointless unless the score, up, and downvotes are all displayed so folks can see the ratio too - as you've displayed.
It might be worth having a reveal toggle so folks can/can't see what's already been voted. Unless the vote-maker determines the default could be unseen, that reveals upon vote - or upon final completion. Might also want to create a null-vote to decline one way or another, or have multiple choices, or have ranking 1-10 or a percentage.
All very good stuff. Goat getting goater.
AlpineMatrix, home of the goats.
The new polls will use the ! POLL command, followed by a space, then your delimiter, and then the options separated by the delimiter.
This is not anywhere close to done. This is just play at this point. You can create them but don't expect them to work.. yet.
Option 1
Now I'm testing a version two that has networking.
Maybe that will work
