Fungal meningitis is not contagious. I don't know how you would get a pandemic of it. Unless there were products being distributed with spores that happen to be compatible with human brain tissue.
I did some looking of things up because I wanted to double check my assumptions. Supposedly one of the most common ways to get it is getting injected by a dirty needle in a third world medical setting. That introduces spores to the blood.
Point being is it's very hard for the spores to get in and you've mostly got to be punctured for it to happen and it's even harder for the spores to come out. It's not like people develop fruiting bodies on their skin.
