It's like Reddit vs this site, this is an indie space. Either way you gotta read. Books made of paper still cost money, and if a guy is literate and likes to read he's likely to be at least kind of smart, and if he's kind of smart he's likely to know that reading something for free is better than paying for it. Smart men can pirate a book online just like downloading movies or games.
Society goes downhill towards idiocracy because capitalism prefers people to be stupid. The 18-49 demographic is wanted by advertisers because young people waste their money and older people are too smart.
No true Scotsman? I guess that debate will never end. Like saying no true communism has ever been tried. In truth whether a govt tries to be capitalist or communist the physical laws of the universe will stay the same, people will prefer free things to things that cost something . That's the only point here.

To assume that what we currently have is capitalism is just one of your errors.
The problems with tradpub are legion, but the causes are not wanting stupid customers or an overabundance of unfettered competition.
