If you don't know what nootropics are Grokipedia has a good description. But the short of it is they are drugs intended to improve your cognition or psychology. Basically it's drugs where intent is to create a substainative improvement to your life rather than doing it for recreation.

For those in the know, which ones do you recommend?

I am interested in it. Ever since I developed my mental illness, I have had problems focusing and concentrating. I never tried them before. Steroids for the brain?

I use creatine for working out, and it has cognition benefits too. It's been used for a long time now and seems safe, just make sure you're drinking plenty of water.

Years ago I tried the nootropic pills that were sold at Whole Foods for - something like - $60/bottle for 30 or 60 (can't remember). I read a lot about them, with some articles indicating that nootropics work only for 2 or 3 months, to enhance thinking, and after that the impact was not noticeable. I'm not sure I noticed any difference at all.

I recommend Darjeeling first flush tea and Korean red ginsing, from a decent company. I recall it's now grown in Wisconsin (to 6 years and then treated).
