I'm just doing a little disk cleanup and clearing some logs that have a bit of bloat. I've made a similar post like this one before. But I have a log called "nearemptysubs" that basically log every time someone visits a sub that doesn't give them a nice full page of content. I might as well share before I get rid of this data.

So these are the top subs people are visiting but we don't have enough posts:

  1. SocietalCollapse
  2. MildlyInteresting
  3. WTF
  4. WeirdNews
  5. Climate
  6. Texas
  7. Trump
  8. Comics
  9. Podcasts
  10. Finance
  11. Guns
  12. Articles
  13. TIL
  14. Diversity
  15. RIP
  16. Saidit
  17. Videogames
  18. Computers
  19. Philosophy

These are all subs that do have some content but aren't yet filled out. Two of these are leaps and bounds over the others which is SocietalCollapse and MildlyInteresting.

If anyone is feeling ambitious one could pretty easily post whenever a decent amount of content in any of those.

Why even have subs when metatags will suffice?

Think outside the Reddit box - or build a new customizable preferences box (GUI tool) where folks pick their interests (metatags) and have volunteers curate the tags into categories* aka interests (also requiring a GUI tool). And by default without preferences folks would be exposed to all the things, not just some arbitrary uncurated never-evolving "default list" of subs for new users, as was on SaidIt to the detriment of EV.ER.Y.ONE. who tried to cultivate new and/or critically important new subs/interests/categories.

Also, fuck magnora7.

There are no posts in /s/SocietalCollapse - but /s/ManagedDecline and /s/Collapse are a thing, *essentially all within the same category. PW'd MI.

I didn't even catch that there were no posts in /s/SocietalCollapse. I guess the log labeled "nearemptysubs" was a lie. I wonder why so many page views go there.
