There was a concerted effort on many fronts around this time. The culture of reddit went from, "kinda cringe, but you can stick to your niche just fine" to full on woke bullshit in under a year. I'm sure most social media felt the effects as well. Culturally the left strangled all individuality from the West in favor of authoritarian conformity.
Yes. The NDAA 2013 had something to do with it, they turned on the racisim-is-a-problem self-fulfilling prophecy, and ramped up TDS mach 1. 2013 was also the last year Reddit shared their open-source code that SaidIt is based on.
Most of what the modern left pursues, including open borders, queer agenda, gender equity, diversity, are all corporatist/globalist goals.
Our modern left is actually quite stupid and doesn't really understand that 9 times out of 10 their causes seem to help capitalist imperialism. Even pro-Palestine protests just acclimatize us to frequent unrest from cheap foreign labour.

The "left"... or maybe the neo-liberal globalist order with socialist aesthetics.
Yes, in modern parlance, that is what the "left" is. The Overton window has shifted, and anyone who was left-leaning 20 years ago is now on the right.
And many are neither left nor right but anarchists.

It's almost like a psyop to manipulate the managed decline.
Or manage the manipulated decline.
Yes. Better said. But it breaks up the term.
I knew it was awkward when I wrote it and didn't explain the term.

I also like referring to it as an economic Jenga, hollowing out the West while building higher.
