Some of you know I've been talking about making a new /r/redditalternatives sub that isn't gay. The big problem with it is two fold. The lemmy crowd are zealoted communist zerg who downvote anything in the sub that isn't lemmy. So most of the sub is a grave yard of 0 point posts on any real project. The second is vague rules about promotion. The result is it's a dead sub that no one actually posts to. Clearly the sub doesn't have "too much promotion" if it's actually just dead.

So the solution as I see it is just make an alternative reddit alternatives and just ban lemmy people on sight. Hey, they'd do it to you. Now they will have no incentive to downvote everything to promote the visibility of their cult because their cult will have zero visibility either way.

The problem. Reddit is not allowing any good sub names. If reddit is in the name it isn't allowed. Basically /r/redditalternatives and /r/shitredditsays couldn't be registered today. And a lot of the other decent ideas are camped with no activity.

So the best I could do is /r/lemmyalternatives. Is it good enough? You tell me.

What I dislike about is is that it's a little odd for a sub that has nothing to do with lemmy to have lemmy in the title.

So you tell me. Is this sub worth nurturing and inviting you guys to, or should I just wait for a better name to hit me?
