Governments and propagandized social programming shouldn't make it so difficult - in fact they should be making life better and easier. Consumer culture, bad food, and stupid content is pushed rather than better habits, good examples, DIY, and smarter alternatives and solutions to the convenient carrot or tyrannical stick.
Remember when PSAs (public service announcements) were on TV? I don't even know if they're still on PBS. They weren't great (could have been), but they were better than more ads.
Have you ever seen a skinny poor adult? Not in the US. If the parents have food for themselves they have food for their kids. So if kids aren't getting fed it's just plain neglect and not poverty. Poverty doesn't seem to make parents skinny.
