Movie night is on MatrixHub starting at 8pm Eastern on Saturday. Converted to your time that is
You just need to pick a username.
Coming a bit early is always appreciated. It's always good to get the room warm before the movie starts. And it helps first-timers avoid the situation where they come into a room that is empty, only to find out the room would have been full in a few minutes. It's also a great time to share random clips. It actually helps me share these movie nights a lot more easily, and is a small thank you you can give me for putting it together.
Of course, we need the polls for the next round. This will start our hard sci-fi series.

Friendly suggestion: It's good to upvote movies that are new to you that you want to see. But it's also good to upvote movies that you have a high confidence are good and not be afraid to downvote movies you know suck. The movies have really gotten better lately, but maybe as a result of emphasizing that. Movies you haven't seen will happen because probability encourages it. But we can't let bad movies prevail just because no one has seen it. If you upvote a movie you have seen and know is good, someone else won't have seen it. And if they do the same, you'll see something new, but we'll have confidence that it's good. It can't hurt to do a little mixture of both.
If you vote mostly for movies you haven't seen that you want to see, that's ok. But please contribute at least a few of your votes based on what you know is good and not so good.
Theme poll for whenever we change it.

Next week Irish movies?
We should. I need to make a nomination thread and poll. Or just throw some darts.
Irish movies: https://goatmatrix.net/c/MatrixEvents/CLDV7rw1T3#CZKNNArcfG
Not much more than that that are good.
Mostly excluded: rom-com's, crime/gangster, and family fare.
Would be good to
strikeall the movies already featured - especially rather than taking them off the lists. That way we can see the history without confusion.I love Moon, but think I missed that night.
Europa Report is IMO the second best realistic space movie after Apollo 13, with a thread pretty much copied from the 2010 novel that was not included in the movie.
Not sure why folks downvoted Eagle Eye, a surveillance thriller with a panopticon sci-fi A.I.
Gonna be a good night. Seen both a lot. So good I can see again.
I dug up a bunch of YouTube videos about both movies and added them to this playlist I started weeks ago:
📽️ MOVIE ANALYSIS 📽️ ◄ SPOILERS!
You may wish to wait until after you've seen the movies.
If I haven't already, I'll be listening to and filtering all videos in the list to save you the bother. Arranged shorter to longer. Only short-videos with strong ideas will be kept, ideally clear, concise, and catchy. The longer videos will analyze more info in deeper depth (and may repeat concepts in short-videos).
The "movie analysis" list WILL have:
The "movie analysis" list will NOT have:
If these "NOT" videos are in the playlist, it's because I haven't filtered them out yet. Apologies in advance.
Not sure I've got all the best analysis I've come across yet. I have some older "Filmmaking" playlists to skim for gold nuggets.
