Great hard-sci-fi - as is Outland (1981) is fan-fucking-tastic. It's High Noon in space. Very much about the corrupt corporation vs. a truth-seeking man.
Slow, but logical and building. Given what it was I don't know how they could have improved it, or the ending. Heavy stuff. Waaaay better than Ad Astra - talk about plodding.
My Bittersweet Seeds intentionally starts slow and builds. Necessary for world-building and for pieces coming together later to make sense. Balance is needed to not be too slow of course, and I'll still try to make it as fascinating and not-slow as possible. I started charting the pacing of it, but don't recall if I finished it. I definitely have moments to ponder and reflect the beauty of nature, circumstances, grief, etc. Many modern directors fail to do that.
I guess I missed Europa Report?

Nope. It hasn't happened yet. It's got 3 points at the moment. To be fair it is kind of a slow movie.
I'm actually cheering for Close Encounters.
It had higher votes once, IIRC.
