https://submatrix.net/submit

This is a new experimental feature. We can vote on if it stays in a couple of weeks, after trying it out.

What the new form does:

  • Combines the link and text submission forms into one
  • Makes all initial post bonuses happen in one place in the code
  • Makes it clear what bonuses will take effect
  • Converts text into a comment when a URL is present

I've kept the old forms around as a failsafe. I'll keep those linked in the sidebar for a few days as a fallback. Those forms no longer produce bonus points. That's because all of the former code for that was embedded deep into different parts of the code. If I kept that code active, the new form would have points applied twice.

One thing to consider after the trial is over and we decide if we want to keep this or not is that the new consolidated point calculations and display could technically be done with split forms. It just happens that I got these things done together. So we'll have to decide then if we want things combined or split.

I like it, especially the lead comment feature. One issue is that it makes you submit the form before it tells you when you need to wait longer to post. Also, when you hit the back button the sub is no longer filled out (although this is the same with the old form).

I like it.
[x] Keep it.

Where it says, "Write your post text here (optional). Styling with markdown format is supported." It should mention that the text will either be for a text-post or the first-comment under a link-post.

A reference link to markdown formatting would be good too. These little things will make it easier for newbies.

What are "the new consolidated point calculations and display"?
