This gives a little bit of control and even lets you do a little bit of each setting. It's not full controls but I'll keep adding more.
There are three sliders. FIFO, LIFO, and Random. That is:
As far as individual controls go I would order the priority, to first be able to remove an item, then to reorder items, then to be able to edit items in place.
Those kinds of things will happen when they happen.
Also the post whenever queue page has been decluttered and it only shows your own items. But if you want to see the full queue you can find that at /wheneverqueue/all.
Over-complicated.
Let each user reorder their own list (sooner/later) if they care to.
Based on each user's front page activity (how many posts, timing, whatever) the algo will trickle out posts individually, not as a group.
Done.
Cool. That takes 20x the effort to re-schema the database, and modify UI/UX for a minor site feature. When it comes to minor site features we are going for moderate improvement for easy to code. This site is a minority of what I work on.
None of it is impossible but if you want you can go to https://codepen.io and do the UI/UX end of things and then I'll make the backend for it.
It's a bit confusing. So this just changes the order of how you view the queue, or does it somehow change the order in which things are posted even though we all have access to the controls? Honestly I'm not too happy with recent changes. A queue is a nice feature if implemented well, we all contribute to a steady stream of posts. But I made a big post about UX, that was a couple days ago and I was encouraged to put it in the queue but now I'm waiting too long, I want to hear you guys' feedback but it hasn't even been posted yet. The thing is that if putting something in the queue gets rewarded, then you're also experiencing more competition from those posts so things that get posted immediately get marginalized. What do you think of giving everyone one power post per day that will get the extra score and be posted immediately, and for the others they will either lack the boost or you have to put them in the queue?
