It looks like we had a bout of spam hit us this weekend. So we now need to make this a team effort. Because I want this button to be pretty potent, I'm looking for super trustworthy people who won't use it as a dislike button.

The key thing here is that not all promotion or self-promotion is considered spam. We promote self-promotion here. Just not self-promotion that users dislike. So there is an extra step when removing spam to see if the user who posted it has more downvotes than upvotes.

As an aside, this is one of the reasons why downvoting spam is mandatory, because it isn't spam until it's downvoted. The exception is if it is blatantly off topic or copied and pasted multiple times. When in doubt, just let it be.

If interested, let me know. Because this button isn't just making a record in a table for me to look at later (pretty pointless), I am going to be a bit selective. So please avoid drawing offense over who I hand it to. But I also don't want to thrust this rather powerful button on people so I'm inviting people to express interest.
