Neal Stephenson is one of my top ten favourite authors (Zodiac (1988), Snow Crash (1992), The Diamond Age (1995), Wired Magazine, etc.). His concepts still stick to the back of my skull. Yet, I haven't read anything from him for decades, much less anything else worth remembering.
I recently got a "very good" terribly abused copy of Anathem (2008) off Amazon (almost sent it back).
I literally know nothing about it, other than he wrote a best-seller. I don't even know what the title means. I just know I've got a bunch of his other books, including a few I still haven't read. Same with Douglas Coupland.
Are you interested in obtaining a copy, reading it a chapter at a time, and discussing it?
Assuming there are suckers who want to do this - how long should we wait until everyone has got a copy?

Or maybe we should just read and figure out the pacing as we go. It may take a year for me to read it. The hardest part is starting. Once I'm into it I won't be able to put it down. Unless it's dull. Doubt. The second hardest part is not racing to the end.

After this book, we can discuss a diverse, inclusive, equitable, and fair way to choose another great tome to plunder.
