Anca Dragu was appointed Governor of the National Bank of Moldova by the Decision of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova of 22 December 2023, following an impressive career in Romania, as well as at the European and international level.

She is the first woman to hold the position of Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, with 27 years of professional experience in the economic, financial and banking, and public sectors. She was also the first woman in Romania to hold the mandate of President of the Senate (2020-2021), and the second woman in Romania's history to serve as Minister of Public Finance (2015-2017).

Anca Dragu started her career at the National Bank of Romania (1996-2001), as an economist, after graduating from the Faculty of Finance and Banking of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (1996). Between 1999 and 2000, she underwent a postgraduate program in economic and international affairs at Georgetown University in the USA. In 2007, she obtained the master title in public policies from SNSPA Bucharest, and in 2010 she obtained the title of PhD in economics from the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies.
