This speaks to the beauty and mystery of the Japanese national character.

How can a culture that values work ethic and professionalism above all else also engage in deliberately getting plastered in front of your coworkers?

Why does a country that is notoriously low in crime, so much so that they are famous for turning in lost money, also prodigiously draw cartoons featuring tentacle rape?

They are a very interesting people, and the primary reason I do not trust Asians.

Very true. I did a kick of studying Japanese culture. At first I thought they had a lot going for them. They do everything properly. But then I realized the reason. Japanese people live in fear of everyone else. Everything they do well is because of a sense of external judgement. That's why they aren't very inventive and do things the traditional way. Doing something a new and better way opens up a chance to let someone down. Doing something a traditional way doesn't because if anyone complains you can insist it is best because it is traditional.

Sitting in a way that makes your legs go numb is retarded. Doing it because Samurai did it because shogi were afraid of their own violent thugs so they had them sit in a way that made their legs numb so they couldn't stand up and attack easily is a really retarded reason to consider something an honorable way to sit.

They also seem to the only Asians capable of making interesting art. I think Berserk! is my favorite piece of media ever.
