I'm thinking maybe we could just bring this website to life by actively posting on Friday evenings and sharing it with friends, encouraging them to post at that time too. Part of the appeal of forums was how active it was and how semi-instantaneous replies were. It's hard to create that artificially but maybe we can try that once a week at least.
The best time for a global gathering is when users across all time zones are awake. Saturday or Sunday morning US time works best, as it’s afternoon in Europe and evening/night in Asia and Australia, everyone is awake, and no one’s asleep
What would be really great is if we had some kind of an event that lasted over the weekend that people could show up for a few times over that weekend period.

I agree that having more users on at the same time is a good idea. Funny thing about Friday night is that's when we are doing the movie night. But maybe that's indication that Friday night is the most prime time and movies should get the second most prominent spot.
Or maybe for now we should do Saturday or Thursday.
I guess the spot is already taken actually I meant evening for yuropoors like myself so that'd be the day preceding the event maybe Saturday afternoon (American time) is best then. You could remind people of it during movie nights on Friday just requesting them to post on the site the following day.
How about a rolling social day/night? Friday this week, 6 days later Thursday, 6 days later Wednesday, etc. It mixes it up for inflexible schedules.
I know @x0x7 doesn't want the chat to be the main draw, but it is a powerful too, and IMO should be embraced (and have timestamps). Feed the trolls and they will thrive. Avoid inviting assholes and it should be nice. Precrime means punishing us for something we didn't even do, so the lack of timestamps is IMO unjust - though not remotely as bad as magnora7's arbitrary precrime limit of 40 subs in case I might abuse mod powers, then taking them away because I had 42.
Not sure how/what/why, but it might be good to have a theme or themes for chat and/or posting on social day/night.
I kind of like this idea.
Which one?

Yes.
I think it's better if it's predictable and people can be like hey, it's friday evening, let's hop on goat matrix.
