I had verrrrry basic healthcare training when I was much younger, for a different job than I have now, but I did get certified as an EMT-B.
Luckily, the guy teaching us was a very experienced and professional paramedic, and probably the only thing I really remember him teaching at this point, was to never assume shit.
He gave us a really good example. You find an unconscious patient bleeding from the head on the floor of his garage, next to a ladder. What happened?
Everyone, including me, rushed to answer that he fell off the ladder, knocking himself unconscious.
He politely explained to us that we were all retarded; Patient could have had a seizure, a stroke, syncope, and a billion other possible medical emergencies that caused him to fall off the ladder, resulting in the injury.
Shit kind of blew my mind. Taught my a lot about how initial assumptions can be completely incorrect, if you are lazy with your thinking.
Hope you downloaded the video to host elsewhere. They got the axe.
