It's why even though I use my bike I refuse to be called a cyclist. I don't want to be associated by name with those entitled freaks.

Do you ride the child’s toy on the street? That’s how I differentiate them. If it’s a kid I don’t care that much but a grownup playing about on the street on a child’s toy is not deserving of respect.

Lately I mostly stick to trails. Completely away from cars. It’s a good workout. If you don’t play you just get old faster and die. Also you get to see significantly more trail than hiking.

But I agree. It’s recreation and these people need to get out of the way of people on the road. Share the road is the worst catch phrase to hit humanity. The right one is, “you are a guest.”

I’ve seen them expecting 3 feet on rural roads, both the straight flat raised to avoid flooding type and the curvy wooded/hilly area ones. People do 70 on both kinds, and semi trucks go on both kinds.

Yep. That is not a good place for a bike to be. Bike trails exist. Proper nature trails exist. Even residential roads exist. There is no reason for a bike to be anywhere where natural traffic hits above 40.

We need laws to tell them to stay off these roads because somehow common sense won’t do it.
