They don't need a mark, they use your smart phone to track and control you.

Coming soon to the USA. When AI can't have a positive ROI, AI companies fail.

China knows it wont be able to win an AI race. They simply just don't have the chips. They can't build enough high end chips and american exports won't let them buy them.

So they are doing something different. A video I just saw made a great example of this.

Imagine a river crossing, the American's make an amazing engineered bridge that costs an insane amount to build and so charge a toll to use it. The Chinese know they can't compete so they set up a free to use ferry service instead.

The ferry is not as good, it's slower but it's free and it gets you there eventually. It turns out most people are going to use the ferry. Sure there are some who need the bridge. They need the quick access but think of how this is going to affect the bridge expected revenue now. Can the better service compete with free?

Right now China makes some very good AIs that are completely free and open source you can download from hugging face. If I'm not mistaken their DeepSeek model is free to download.

The video had a chart and claims that in 2025 China's AI was withing 1% of top US models, with 6 out of every 10 AI generate words coming from Chinese models. In 2026 China is now 3.5% behind top US models, however 8 of every 10 words now are now coming from Chinese models. They lost ground but still increased in use. People are choosing the free. This is going to have a major effect on revenue for American AI companies. Short term pain for China to watch a multi trillion dollar gamble go down in flames.

I guess the ultimate question is, are you going to pay to get the extra 3.5%?
