He recommends $1000+ and the Canon R50V is my dream camera for that - but you can also get 4K action cameras on Amazon for about $45 (but might not be good) - or (my) Akaso for more reliable quality for $100-$200 and features - without over-paying twice as much for dying brands like GoPro. If I actually need any fancier or specific cinematography I'd then hire professional DPs with rented gear. Ultimately it comes down to a lot of creative choices and competence, and the gear can only be an extension of that, after you've mastered the composition, lighting, performances, timing, story, etc.
Fancy (non-cheap) tripods are best, second-hand for value. Sandbags ALWAYS help.
I got a Tascam DR 60 audio recorder - a little bigger and bulkier than the handheld he featured, but put a strap on it with a mic and then it seems less invasive - with more power and options. I recently learned it could only take 32gb SD cards, not 128gb which is overkill except I'd bought a 6 pack for shooting video too.
Though very proficient in them, I would never recommend Adobe anything. Ever. They are exemplary of what's wrong with software.

Also, the video is several years old. But if you plan on doing feature-length films, spending a little on camera and audio equipment is a Very Good Idea. You can skimp on a lot of things, but chintzy audio will cause most of the audience to tune right out.
Personally, I avoid Adobe anything and stick with open source as much as humanly possible.
Anyone going for a full feature should have already cut their teeth on short form projects (including music videos, short podcasts, ads, whatever), and ideally should know more about the entire process at that point.
