Holy FUCK - late stage capitalism has DESTROYED society in the US. First they came for the cane sugar in Coca Cola, replacing it with high-fructose corn syrup in 1980-84. Also, Reagan was elected, and used OUR Social Security money to pay US debts. But we didn't care because we thought it didn't effect us directly. Then they cut the nutrition in school lunches at grade schools throughout the US in the 1990s, fucking up childrens' nutrition. But we didn't care because we thought it didn't effect us directly. Now cocoa is being systematically removed from chocolate bars and Reese's Cups (not just in the US). Well you know what? This does effect us.
Yes. Pepsi is sweeter. Coke used to pay high schools to allow them do taste tests on campus in the 1980's and, if I remember correctly, Pepsi beat Coke in those taste tests.
You sound like RFK Jr, all these replacements are unhealthy in some way. I quit eating candy a while ago, except for the occasional Zero Bar. https://www.hersheyland.com/zero Now I see Hearshey makes it. I might quit it, white fudge was healthier, but not if they take out most of the fudge.
Enshittification of junk food has been very good for my waistline. I eat a whole lot more vegetables and fruits these days and not much of this new 'chocolaty product' anymore.

New Coke was a ploy to replace sugar with HFCS in regular Coca-Cola.
New Coke tasted like Pepsi.

I recall that everyone I knew hated it, and then the 'classic' Coke appeared on the market. Coke in Europe still has beet or cane sugar.
Coke in Mexico used to have real sugar, but they switched to HFCS.
I think that Coca-Cola has a certain "bite" to it that other cola flavored sodas lack.
Yeah - seems so. Pepsi seems to be too sweet, by contrast, though I know both drinks have lots of 'sugar'.
Coca-Cola might have more carbonic acid, IDK, which is the fizz and a slight tartness.
But most of the acidity is from phosphoric acid (pH c. 2.5), which is bad for tooth enamel and irritates the stomach lining.

Cool thing to learn. Thanks for sharing that.

Um...
(Also, RFK Jr is just a moron for hire.)
Poe's law?
You betcha!

People say that eating healthy is expensive. Produce is cheep. At least most of it is. It's just less convenient and easy to fall out of habit.
