The problem the door handle solves is it allows them to lock people out. They really want to seperate ownership and use. Windows isn't built for you. It's built for your employer. In an employment setting, that's fair. But why would you want that to be your personal computer? What's weird is when an employer isn't attached, Microsoft increasingly takes their seat instead of the user.
Maybe something similar is happening with the car? Do these car manufactures think rental companies will be their dominent customer? Or ride share companies? Or just enough to justify it while normal customer will tolerate it like they do with Windows?
