All the gold backed crypto is custodial and centralized. A free currency has to be private, fungible and decentralized, like Monero. If you had something like Monero that was tied to the price of gold that'd be cool, but difficult to implement because a trusted party has to store / exchange the gold.
My guess is it's a woke and broke website and it's deep in debt to the bank and missing payments. Or they've lost lawsuits for posting fake news and it's going bankrupt for that reason. Lloyds bank is woke and would love to keep helping to divide and conquer but not if it doesn't work and instead wakes people up.
No one's ever heard of the canary so how successful could its propaganda be?
