On one hand, fall is the end of the season and symbols of death are everywhere. We've been so sheltered by cartoon violence in media and prepackaged meat and somber funerals that we don't have much of a healthy relationship with death - and to be fair, Halloween has some really twisted aspects that don't appeal to many.

Damn white people, celebrating their own holiday.

I personally don't care what people do, and I do hand out candy though I never dress up or put up decorations other than a carved pumpkin. Halloween is basically the culmination of Europeans unable to let go of their pagan roots.

It's usually the non-Christians who adorn their houses with the most macabre, excessively grotesque and violent decorations.

I could see that being true.
