It looks like Saidit shutting down didn't just depend on a loss of motivation by Magnora7. If we believe Magnora7's explaination of the shutdown, he says he did not have access to the main server. D3rr was holding the keys. At some point it is likely one of the services on the server went down. Saidit was composed of multiple processes. But whatever was responsible for storing votes and comments wasn't working. Then the whole thing went dark.

In theory D3 had access to these backend services. Saidit had had interuptions in the 2.5 years that Magnora didn't have access, and had been restored. But for whatever reason D3 didn't feel motivated to fix this problem. What caused that lack of motivation? What made him lose motivation?

I've heard some speculate he was frustrated that he wasn't given enough access to fix Saidit's problems, like spam. But from the sounds of it he had all the access. He had the only access. The exception being maybe over the cloudflare.

So he was clearly motivated at one time. Motivated enough to take control of a site. But then later didn't have enough motivation fix spam, or ultimately to solve what killed saidit in late 2025. What could the community have done to keep him motivated?
