We didn't have equality until we had a hunk of plastic with a bunch of stereotypical accessories. They should have put a motor in it so kids could make it rock back and forth in the corner.

Edit - Fuck me, I just read to the end of the article:

The autistic Barbie joins Mattel's Fashionistas doll line. Other dolls in the line represent people with type 1 diabetes, Down syndrome and blindness.

This shit is real! Check them out:
Diabetes Barbie (A little too skinny IMO)
Blind Barbie
Retarded Barbie

Also, Victoria Secret hired a Down Syndrome model. (Down Syndrome kids often have autism.)

Also strange that the autism Barbie looks South Asian.

OK let's do the math: Mattel obviously thinks there is demand for Barbies that have autism, diabetes, lack of sight, and potentially low IQ in general. Kids who set up their Barbie tea parties can now invite several very different kinds of barbies. Perhaps this makes normal Barbie feel better.

1 in 6 US kids have an IQ score below 85

1 in 30 US kids are autistic

1 in 700 have Down syndrome in the US

That's a significant proportion of dummies in the US. Dummies can haz Barbies.
