Almost everything strong starts off flimsy.
(except for CNC machining)
I've been watching people make projects like this one for a long time now.
Maybe it's time to do more than watch....
I guess it's neat.
Why glorify the military industrial complex?
What does he do with it after?
What's the point?
IMO it's a waste of talent, time, energy, and resources.
I'm personally fascinated by the hardware, and in awe of the people that live on the floating cities and keep them running. I love planes and ships, so when they meet it's beautiful to me.
A long time ago there was controversy about a carrier or something in SF - that IIRC was owned by Google, intended to stay permanently at sea. Not sure exactly why or what happened to that.
Also, the reason why Gitmo can get away with shit is because it's not US soil (as if they really need that excuse). So it's been often postulated that they'd have floating prisons, secret or not. I mention one in my Bittersweet Seeds screenplay. They had one in an Avengers movie or few.
I've loved the idea of peaceful sustainable beautiful floating cities (often featured on the old TreeHugger.com (is now shit) and design sites), but I think war machines are ugly on many levels.
Amazing how he starts with flimsy boards and finishes with a state of the art ship.
